Workforce development model
Workforce Development is not an end in itself. It only has value if it enables the workforce to deliver improved outcomes and reduce inequalities for the children and young people of Cheshire and Warrington.
Our goal is to ensure that the young people of Cheshire West and Cheshire, Cheshire East and Warrington achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes by focussing expertise on their needs and investing in the workforce who support them. That workforce must be skilled, well-led and supported by effective, shared systems and processes.
Our vision, and ultimate measure of success, is that the service experienced by those young people is as good as it possibly can be. In addition, Workforce development is driven by the same values that underpin the whole service:
To provide the best possible support services for young people we will always:
- Reflect what young people want and need
- Collect and utilise objective evidence to plan provision
- Involve young people in the design of services
- Ensure services are easy to get at
- Ensure services make a real difference to all
- Provide the best value for money.
We fully share and participate in the vision of our partners in the wider Children’s Services Workforce:
- To ensure we have the right staff in the right place with the right skills, who are well supported and confidently led, delivering services and securing outcomes that met the wishes and needs of children and young people and their families in Cheshire
We fully share and participate in the national vision of a world class children’s workforce and the mission of the Children’s Workforce development Council:
- To improve outcomes for children and young people by enhancing the role of the workforce
- To strengthen the workforce by ensuring that all workers have the appropriate skills and qualifications
- To encourage integration while continuing to value the distinctiveness of each profession
- To promote a vision of the children's workforce as integrated, satisfying and valuable
